Boys’ birthday parties
Planning the perfect boys’ birthday party
Boys’ birthday parties can be high-spirited affairs – lots of energy, lots of excitement and lots of noise! While its wonderful to watch the birthday boy having the time of his life with friends on his big day, the idea of keeping a hoard of little boys under control and entertained for two hours can be daunting prospect for many parents.
The key to planning a perfect boys’ birthday party is to remember that most little boys are constantly moving; it’s a good idea to keep the party structured and centred on a main activity – ideally something that uses up lots of energy!
If the idea of having your home taken over by a pack of rambunctious revelers, investigate holding the event at a birthday party venue that offers structured, supervised activities. That way, you can be part of the fun while someone else takes care of the entertainment and the mess.
For a bit of extra excitement, you might like to combine your main activity with a dress-up theme. Talk to the birthday boy about what he likes and thinks is cool; involving him in the planning is win-win – he gets what he wants and you don’t have to wrack your brain for ideas. Listen to each other and share your thoughts and you’ll create a boys’ birthday party that will be memorable, full of action and lots of fun for everyone.
If the ideas aren’t forthcoming from the guest of honour, try offering a few options and let him choose. Super hero themes are always a hit – many littlies already have a Spiderman or Batman costume that they’ll throw on at the drop of a hat. Harry Potter continues to be a favourite with older kids, and “under the sea” parties or “pirate” parties are a great option for both boys and girls.
