Product Launches
Tips to help you plan a successful product launch
Planning a product launch can be a daunting task – an appropriately-targeted, well-executed launch party is a fantastic way to introduce a new product into the marketplace and create positive attention for a brand or a business. A poorly-planned product launch, however, can have precisely the opposite effect.
The key to ensuring your product launch generates great results is careful planning and attention-to-detail. Gather a trusted team to help you prepare, and start as early as you possibly can.
Pay particular attention to the following areas:
The Product
Make sure you know everything there is to know about the product itself – why and how it was developed, who it is being marketed to and your company’s objectives in relation to it.
Ensure you have a full understanding of how the product will be marketed; if the product launch is part of a larger introduction campaign, spend time with the people behind this to make sure you’re on the same page.
Logistics
Meticulous planning of the details of the event – the who, where, when and how – is an essential part of a successful product launch. Arrange meetings with the relevant people to settle on the budget, date, time, catering and technical requirements, guest numbers and event format.
Be careful about the timing of your product launch – try to avoid clashing with big sporting or public events, and make sure your chosen location is easy to get to. Aim to select a location that is close to public transport, and that is easily accessible even through heavy traffic.
Send out your invitations well in advance to ensure you get a spot in as many diaries as possible.
Venue
Once you’ve prepared a list of what you’ll need for the product launch, the process of selecting a venue will be much easier. Compile a list of potential venues (look for well-appointed, unique venues in a central location that is close to public transport), then contact each venue with your list of requirements to ensure they can provide the facilities you need. A memorable venue will keep people talking about the launch well after your event has concluded.
Catering
New products are being launched every day; it’s likely that your product launch is one in a long line of similar events for many of your guests. Keep them happy by providing ample food and drink – your guests will be more receptive to your product when they’re not thinking about dinner.
