SCHEDULED ICE MAINTENANCE - NOW COMPLETE!

Since opening in February 2010 Medibank Icehouse has been dedicated to providing the biggest and best world class ice facility Australia has ever seen. In the 2 years and 9 months, since opening, Medibank Icehouse has played host to State, National and International events including:

2011 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Division 2 Group A World Championships which saw the Australian Men's Ice Hockey take out the gold.
2012 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships which saw the ISU officially recognising two World Records being recorded at Medibank Icehouse.

This October will be the first time the Bradbury Rink (Rink 2) has been dropped, repainted and refrozen.

There are two main reasons for dropping the rink.

The first is that skaters will have a new, fresh sheet of ice to skate and curl on.
The second is essential maintenance of the main chiller. Running two pads (rinks) has the chiller working to its allowable capacity. We need to reduce the draw on the chiller so that we can carry out annual service. The service planned is minimise risk of a fault occurring which, at worst, could result in the possible closure of both rinks for a longer period of time.

Our ice maintenance team, headed by Ken McCoy, will be working night and day to ensure the maintenance is completed within the 10 day window. This specific time has been selected as historically this is the quietest week of the year.

While the Bradbury Rink is out of action public skate sessions, programs and drop in sessions will be running to a limited schedule on the Henke Rink (Rink 1). Please take the time to check the schedule for adjusted times.
