2012 is an exciting year for Melbourne Ice. It is the year they celebrate their 10 year anniversary and having won the Goodall Cup for the last two seasons the team is poised to make AIHL history. If they win this year with 3 in a row, it will be a feat never before achieved in the Australian League.

Established in 2002, and playing out of the Oakleigh Rink, Melbourne Ice, now call the state of the art Medibank Icehouse home. With two Olympic size ice rinks and world class facilities Medibank Icehouse is the ideal place to immerse yourself in this fast, action packed sport.

The team is made up of elite amateur players and seasoned imports, playing at international professional level. Several of the Melbourne Ice players are also proud representatives for Australia in the Senior Men’s National team, who won their way into IIHF Division 1 in April 2011 here at Medibank Icehouse adn will travel . Melbourne Ice is also represented in the U20 National Juniors and U18 National Youth Teams.

Melbourne Ice is a not-for-profit incorporated association, run by a volunteer management committee. The management group comprises individuals with high-level experience in coaching, sports management, business, marketing, government and the community sector.

The team train and play all their home games at Medibank Icehouse and welcome everyone to come and watch. Look out for the team when you’re there having fun on the ice. You never know when they might drop in to shoot some goals.
