Medibank Icehouse offers a slew of classes and team trainings within our Figure Skating Academy.

TERM CLASSES AND TEAMS

Rising Stars

Rising Stars is designed for kids who are currently skating between an Intermediate 2 and Pre-Primary level.  This class takes place on Wednesday evenings.  Skaters Freeskate level and above are eligible for our Elite Rising Stars group.  The Rising Stars and Elite Rising Stars Program is  a bridge program from our Skate School to our Figure Skating Academy, and is designed to prepare skaters for competitive figure skating.

This Term we are offering a packaged deal which includes the Rising Stars and Elite Rising stars programs combined with the moves in the field class.

Moves in the field is an introduction to what will soon be the newest required elements in the Australian National Testing structure!. These patterns focus on skills like power, extension,edges,turns and flexibility are for Free Skate level and above.

Term Dates:

Term 1: 1st February to 28th March 2012
Term 2: 18th April-20th June 2012

Elite Rising Stars: Wednesday, 4.45pm-5.30pm
Moves In the Field : Wednesday, 5.30pm-6.00pm
Rising Stars: Wednesday, 6.00pm-6.45pm

Cost:

Elite Rising Stars / Rising Stars Term: $230 for the 10 week Term
Elite Rising Stars/ Rising Stars Package: $340 for the 10 week Term. This includes the Moves in the Field class
Moves in the Field Drop In: $18

On Edge - Adult Synchro Team

On Edge is our resident Adult Synchronized Skating team.  They are currently preparing to compete at Victorian State Championships and the national Championships under the direction of coach, Amber Briant. If you are interested in joining in the team, contact us at programs@icehouse.com.au - please note that we also have a Beginner Open Synchro Team  with information further down this page.

Theatre on Ice

The Youth Theatre on Ice Team  competed at the National Federation Challenge in Canberra in August, and also to performed an exhibition at the Crystal Challenge in September under the direction of coach, Amber Briant. The 2012 Team started in Term 1 under the Instruction of Cameron Medhusrt. The team will be competing in the 2012 season. Skaters Freeskate 1 and above  are welcome to join the Team in Term 2. please contact the programs department for more information programs@icehosue.com.au

Term Dates:
 Term 1:  5th February -1st April 8.00am-8.45am. 
Term 2: 22nd April-24th June

Cost: Upfront term payment based on $20 per week. This cost includes ice time and coaching fees. Costumes and competition costs are additional.

To be eliglbe  for the team skaters must be Freeskate level and above and under 15yrs.

DROP IN FIGURE SKATING CLASSES

Youth Off Ice Strength and Conditioning

This class is designed to enhance the development and physical preparation of the skater so they are able to complete more demanding skills on the ice. Classes will focus on strength, conditioning and plyometric training under the direction of Karolina Korfanty, however, other instructors may substitute the class from time to time  Click here to view more information

Adult Coffee Club.

Adult Coffee Club is open to Adults over the age of 18 who are skating at an Adult 3 level and above.  This class includes free public skating on the day of the class, and focuses on edges, turns and general skating skills in a fun and social way.  This class will be running on a drop-in only .  The primary instructor for this class is Dorothy Bisset, however, other instructors may subsitute the class from time to time.  Click here to view more information.

Open Age Moves in the Field

Moves in the Field is designed for all skaters at an Intermediate 2 / Adult 3 level and above.  This class focuses on patterns that will soon be implemented into the national testing structure.  These patters focus on edges, turns, power and extension, and are designed to improve every element of your skating.  This class will be running on a drop-in only basis for Term 4.  The primary instructor for this class is Dorothy Bisset, however, other instructors may substitute the class from time to time.  Click here to view more information.

Open Age Ice Dance

Ice Dance is designed for all skaters at an Intermediate 2 / Adult 3 level and above.  Ice Dance is one of the most beautiful divisions of figure skating, and focuses on musicality, presentation and flow.  Whether you are interested in competing, using it to enhance your solo skating, or just being social, Ice Dance can benefit skaters in many ways.  This class will be running on a drop-in only basis.  The primary instructor for this class is Mark Hochmann, however, other instructors may substitute the class from time to time.  Click here to view more infromation.

Open Age Off-Ice Ballet

Classical Ballet is an essential training tool for all figure skaters, and this class is open to skaters of all levels and ages.  This class is designed to enhance posture, turn-out, musicality, presentation and flexibility.  This class will be running on a drop-in only basis.  The primary instructor for this class is Svetlana Maskevich, however, other instructors may substitute the class from time to time.  Click here to view more information.

Adult Synchro Beginner Team

Synchronized Skating is a fun and social class designed for skaters at an Intermediate 2 / Adult 3 level and above.  This class will teach you the basics of skating as team, and focuses on formations, edges, turns and rhythm.  This class will be running on a aTerm basis and training in preparation to compete in 2012. The primary instructor for this class is Amber Briant, however, other instructors may substitute the class from time to time.

Programs Refund Policy

A full or partial refund will be issued if:

  1. Medibank Icehouse is unable to provide the program that the participant originally paid for due to lack of demand, technical issues or rescheduling.
  2. Severe injury or illness prevents the participant from beginning or completing the full program.

Full or partial credit will be issued if:

  1. Minor injury or illness prevents the participant from beginning or completing the full program.
  2. The participant is not suited for the particular program they’ve registered for, and is moved to another program. In this case, the credit from the original program will be used to fund the new program.

Refund or credit will not be issued in cases in which:

  1. The participant is not interested in completing the program.
  2. The participant’s availability changes, and they are unable to complete the program.
  3. The participant engages in abusive, immoral or disruptive behavior towards Medibank Icehouse staff or visitors, and is dismissed from the venue.
