Beginning Tuesday 21st May, the Icehouse Goaltending Academy will hold it's first development class for all current goaltenders. Join Jon Olthuis, goaltender for the Melbourne Mustangs, in a 1hr session from 4:30pm for the last 5 weeks of term 2. Classes will be a drop-in basis and will focus on basic fundamentals to advanced techniques and strategies.

- 3 years canadian Junior A hockey
- 4 years NCAA division 1 college hockey
- 2 years Southern Professional Hockey League
- 4 years goalie instructor at Banff hockey school in Canada

Hockey Academy is a terrific way to get in the game. Even if you’ve never skated before, our qualified coaches can teach you all the basics required to become a hockey star!

Class duration: 1 hour instruction
Equipment: all equipment is provided
Cost: Hockey Academy is an upfront payment of $275 (Tues and Wed) per term and $247.50 for Saturdays. This includes 1 hour of instruction, hockey skates and full equipment hire included in term fee.
HOCKEY BASIC SKILLS: This class is designed for KIDS AND ADULTS who are beginners and who are interested in learning to skate before joining hockey school. No equipment is used during the class. YOUTH INTRO TO HOCKEY (under the age of 18): TUESDAY: 4:30pm - 5:30pm pecifically designed for Under 18's. After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking youths through a series of skill levels preparing them to play ice hockey.
YOUTH INTERMEDIATE HOCKEY (under the age of 18) For skaters who have completed the Youth Intro course:
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE (under the age of 18) For skaters who have completed youth intermediate and are now ready to learn the fundamentals of the game through playing the game.
INTRO TO HOCKEY ADULTS (18+): Specifically designed for adults 18 and over. After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking adults through a series of skill levels in general skating techniques before introducing stick and puck skills. Intro "B" is suited to those who are new to Ice Hockey. Intro "A" is a more advanced beginner class and suited to those who have completed one term of Intro but are not yet ready for the Intermediate class.

Wednesday: Intro "A" 6:15pm–7:15pm
Saturday: Intro "B" 9:45am-10:45am
ADULT INTERMEDIATE (18+): Intermediate is suited to those who have advanced from Intro and are looking to continue their skill development.

ADULT SCRIMMAGE -NEW CLASS!!! (18+): For Intermediate level skaters as a stand alone or complementary class to extend their game play skills prior to enrolling in Development League.
Classes are only suitable for those who have completed Intermediate Hockey class

POWER SKATING (18+):
Wednesday: 10:00pm – 11:00pm
Power Skating includes:
1. Skating Agility –turns, pivots, edge control, three turns, two foot turns, Mohawk turns
2. Stride Mechanics- extensions & recovery, arm position, blade and ice contact, bending knees, hip to toe extension, lengthening stride
3. Starts- acceleration start, explosive skating, quick V push start
4. Stopping- weight distribution, proper stance and body positioning, proper balance and weight transfer
5. Backward Skating- backward edges, turns, stops, quick start backwards
Once the techniques are solidified the hockey players will be able to generate more power with less effort. Stop with ease and assurance, have more agility with turns and edges all while having fun!
