Intensive Intro runs for 10 sessions Monday to Friday on January 5th to 9th, and 12th - 16th. Cost is $350 and ALL equipment is provided for the duration of the camp.

NEW CLASS OFFERING! 

2nd Half of Term 4 Hockey Academy Conditioning Class

The first classes have been full of hard work mixed with fun. The 2nd Half of this 5 week course will cover a range of off ice training techniques and principals; helping players develop personal off ice training programs that will enhance on ice weaknesses. Become more stable, stronger, and a faster athlete, allowing you to fast track your progress on your hockey journey. 

We are also adding an Advanced Strength & Conditioning Class. The class will run on Tuesdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The course is catered to those who are more experienced, and more knowledgable with off ice training. Participants in this class will experience a faster pace/ more intense training regime than the intro classes. 

Coaching this class is Lliam Webster - Team Australia Captain and 3 Time AIHL Champion and League MVP. Lliam is certified in fitness levels 3 and 4, and has extensive experience with functional movement, plyometrics, and skating specific training.

SKATE SCHOOL CLASSES  

If you are a beginner skater try Youth Basic 1 or Adult 1 in Skate School. These classes are in small groups and designed for KIDS AND ADULTS who are beginners and who are interested in learning to skate before joining hockey Academy. No equipment is used during the class.

For skaters wanting to focus on their skating skills while taking Hockey Academy classes we recommend levels up to Youth Intermediate 1 and Adult 4 which cover more advanced skating skills and techniques.  

Skate School Classes available: Saturday, Sunday and Wednesdays and are 30mins in class of 8 students + 30mins practice and free general session. Please CLICK HERE for more information!


YOUTH HOCKEY CLASSES

YOUTH INTRO TO HOCKEY : After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking youths through a series of skill levels preparing them to play ice hockey. 

Tuesdays: 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Saturdays: 9.45am–10.45am 


YOUTH INTERMEDIATE HOCKEY (under the age of 18) For skaters who have completed the Youth Intro course

YOUTH Intermediate

Wednesdays: 5:00pm to 6:00pm - Consists of 3 Intermediate Levels - 1 On the Edge / 2 Shape Up / 3 Boost. The class is divided according to skill level, which increases rate of progress.

YOUTH Advanced 

Saturdays: 10:45am to 11:4am - Catered to players who are at an intermediate skill level - skills for 20 - 30 mins, followed by a coached game for 30-40 mins.

YOUTH Elite Hockey

Tuesdays: 4:30pm to 5:30pm - Perfect for players who are at the highest level in youth Hockey Academy - This class is invite only. 



ADULT HOCKEY CLASSES

INTRO TO HOCKEY ADULTS (18+): Specifically designed for adults 18 and over. After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking adults through a series of skill levels in general skating techniques before introducing stick and puck skills.


Tuesday: Intro 4.30pm-5.30pm

Wednesday: Intro 6:15pm–7:15pm (18+ Only)

Saturday: Intro 9:45am-10:45am (All Ages)

ON THE EDGE (18+):  With the ever increasing intermediate group - we have noticed that there is a large gap between players who have just finished Intro, and those who are still in intermediate and are participating for the 2nd/3rd time. In comes "On the Edge", this class is perfect for those who need extra work on their skating, stickhandling etc... techniques. Instead of repeating intro from scratch - this class will get you right into the thick of things with the best opportunity to nurture your hockey skills.

Tuesday: On the Edge 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Wednesday: On the Edge 7:30pm to 8:30pm

ADULT INTERMEDIATE (18+):  Intermediate is suited to those who have advanced from "On the Edge" and are looking to continue their skill development.

Tuesday: Intermediate 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Wednesday: Intermediate 8:45pm to 9:45pm 

ADULT SCRIMMAGE (18+): For Intermediate level skaters as a stand alone or complementary class to extend their game play skills prior to enrolling into Development League. Class is limited to those who have completed intermediate and past scrimmage terms. 
Tuesday: 6:45pm to 7:45pm


ATTENTION DEV LEAGUERS 

Classes are only suitable for those who have completed Intermediate Hockey class and have participated in at least one term of Adult Scrimmage. 

DEV LEAGUE ADULTS (18+):
Wednesday:
10pm to 11pm


POWER SKATING (All ages):

Wednesday: 9:45pm – 10:45pm 

Power Skating includes:

1. Skating Agility –turns, pivots, edge control, three turns, two foot turns, Mohawk turns
2. Stride Mechanics- extensions & recovery, arm position, blade and ice contact, bending knees, hip to toe extension, lengthening stride
3. Starts- acceleration start, explosive skating, quick V push start
4. Stopping- weight distribution, proper stance and body positioning, proper balance and weight transfer
5. Backward Skating- backward edges, turns, stops, quick start backwards
Once the techniques are solidified the hockey players will be able to generate more power with less effort. Stop with ease and assurance, have more agility with turns and edges all while having fun!

Power Skating cost for a full term is $275, per half term $140 (5 classes), and the drop in rate is $35.

SNIPER'S ALLEY

The Sniper's Alley Range is designed for players who are serious about perfecting their shots! Players will receive expert instruction on proper technique and quality high intense shooting repetitions. Master the forehand wrist shot, back hand shot, snap shot, and the beloved "Slap Shot". Classes for 2nd half of Term 4 will start from November 24th for the Monday classes, and November 27th for Thursday classes. 

Developing a powerful and accurate shot takes proper guidance and repetition and the "Shooting Range" will be your workshop. The benefits of our indoor shooting range are:

  • 1 on 1 instruction
  • Players can perfect proper technique through high repetition
  • Work on all varieties of shots with proper instruction
  • Build confidence in your shot
Classes will consist of 2 students and 1 coach in a five week term. Cost of the term 2nd half is $200 (4 classes) per student.









Programs Refund Policy


A full or partial refund will be issued if:

  1. Medibank Icehouse is unable to provide the program that the participant originally paid for due to lack of demand, technical issues or rescheduling.
  2. Severe injury or illness prevents the participant from beginning or completing the full program.

Full or partial credit will be issued if:

  1. Minor injury or illness prevents the participant from beginning or completing the full program.
  2. The participant is not suited for the particular program they’ve registered for, and is moved to another program. In this case, the credit from the original program will be used to fund the new program.

Refund or credit will not be issued in cases in which:

  1. The participant is not interested in completing the program.
  2. The participant’s availability changes, and they are unable to complete the program.
  3. The participant engages in abusive, immoral or disruptive behavior towards Medibank Icehouse staff or visitors, and is dismissed from the venue.
