The Icehouse is Australia’s new, world-class ice sports and entertainment venue.

The Icehouse opened its doors to the public for the first time on Friday, February the 12th.
Approximately 500 guests attended the spectacular Opening, including the Premier of Victoria John Brumby, who officially opened the venue.
Also in attendance was Minister for Sport and Recreation, James Merlino. ING Real Estate Australia CEO Greg Boyd, and Icehouse General Manager Darren Walls, both spoke at the event.
Guests at the launch were treated to a spectacular ice sports exhibition, which featured elite ice sports athletes and showcased the venue’s spectacular audio-visual set-up. All the four ice sports that will be played at the Icehouse were represented: curling, short track speed skating, figure skating and ice hockey.
At the end of these performances, around 250 school children poured onto the rink, proudly displaying the new ‘First to Skate’ t-shirts they received in their show bags.
The Icehouse’s first public skate session was held at 7pm on the same day, and many Melburnians attended to warmly welcome this fantastic new facility.
Finally - the Icehouse is here!
