ADULT LEARN TO SKATE

Medibank Icehouse offers lessons for adults young or old, can learn to skate in a fun, supportive and relaxed environment. These classes are unique in that they allow you to move at your own pace, while always giving you new challenges and goals to set for yourself.

Our specially designed levels allow you to move through the basic skills of ice skating at your own pace. 

Often skaters wanting to move into Ice Hockey Academy or speed skating will develop their general skating skills with skate school first for or in conjunction with.

If you’re looking to brush up on your skills, Medibank Icehouse has a CORE CLASS for you! SUPPLIMENTARY CLASSES and Private Lessons are also offered within the Adult Learn-to-Skate program for well-rounded skill development.

  • Weekend morning classes starting Saturday 19th and Sunday the 20th of October to the Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of December - 9 week term $198 
  • Wednesday evenings classes  starting 8th October to 17th December - 10 week term $220:




CORE CLASSES

For your first time enrolling in Skate School at Medibank Icehouse, you will register for:


·        Adult 1

This class is designed for adult beginners who are aged 15 years and over.  We require that those enrolling in this class can balance on their own and take basic skating steps before you enroll. If you are new to the ice we recommend trying a FREE 15 minute "quick start" lesson.

All new participants there is a $62 registration fee you need to add shopping cart before you check out. You can Click Here to purchase your registration fee online 

FAQs

How long is each class? 30 minute group lesson

What is included? Skate and helmet hire is included; 30 minutes practice ice AND FREE public skating on the day of your lesson! Your registration fee include a free sports bag

Practice ice times available to all skate School participants only on the day of their lesson are as follows Saturdays at 8:00-8:30am and 9:00-9:30am and Sundays at 8:00-8:30am and 10:15-10:45am.

How many skaters in each class? Class sizes are generally around 8 skaters.

Can I take additional classes? Yes see SUPPLIMENTARY CLASSES bellow.

CORE CLASSES PROGRESSION

All Adult classes are designed for adults aged 15 years you must have passed the previous level to enrol.

In addition to your core class enrolment, from Adult 2 onwards you can take supplementary classes which are recommended to supplement and build the skills you will learn in your current level. See SUPPLIMENTARY CLASSES bellow for more information.

Supplementary class options $99 per term-
-Adult 3 Stroking Class and Adult
-Adult Edges Class.
-Other supplementary classes including Ice Dance, and Synchronized skating.

·        Adult 4

Supplementary class options $99 per term-
-Adult 4 stroking and skills
-Adult Edges Class supplementary classes. 
-Other supplementary classes including, Ice Dance, Pairs and Synchronized skating.

·        Adult Freeskate 1

Supplementary class options $99 per term-
-Adult Freeskate Stroking and skills
-Adult Edges Class.
-Other supplementary classes including, Ice Dance, Pairs and Synchronized skating.

·        Adult Freeskate 2

Supplementary class options $99 per term-
-Adult Freeskate Stroking and skills

SUPPLEMENTARY CLASSES

Supplementary classes are offered to all skaters from level Adult 2 who are enrolled in a CORE CLASS.

Supplementary classes are essential for well-rounded development and all skaters are encouraged to enroll in at least one supplementary class in addition to their core class. You can find these classes grouped with your core class on the online store.  Term $99 for the 9 week term $110 10 week term

Stroking & skills ClassesStroking classes focus on the gliding movements of skating with an emphasis on extension, alignment and flexibility. These classes help skaters get more power out of their skating and experiment with some new moves and skills!

Ice Dance 1/2/3/4: class teaches the basic dance steps and patterns of the Dutch Waltz and Canasta Tango. For skaters in Adult 3 levels and up.

Pairs Skating 1/2/3/4: Teaches the basic principles of pairs stroking and synchronized side by side elements. For skaters levels Adult 4 and up.

Synchro Mini Teams: Have fun learning the basics of Synchronized skating in a small team of 6-8 skaters! Recommended for Skaters in Novice 2/Adult 2 levels and up.

Programs Refund Policy

A full or partial refund will be issued if:

1.        Medibank Icehouse is unable to provide the program that the participant originally paid for due to lack of demand, technical issues or rescheduling.

2.        Severe injury or illness prevents the participant from beginning or completing the full program.

Full or partial credit will be issued if:

1.        Minor injury or illness prevents the participant from beginning or completing the full program.

2.        The participant is not suited for the particular program they’ve registered for, and is moved to another program. In this case, the credit from the original program will be used to fund the new program.

Refund or credit will not be issued in cases in which:

1.        The participant is not interested in completing the program.

2.        The participant’s availability changes, and they are unable to complete the program.

3.        The participant engages in abusive, immoral or disruptive behavior towards Medibank Icehouse staff or visitors, and is dismissed from the venue.
