BEGINNERS LESSON - THE BASICS

If you’ve never been skating before, or you’re just looking for a refresher, Medibank Icehouse offer FREE beginner lessons. Pull on your skates and let our Ice Ambassadors teach you the basics before you glide off to join the Public Skate. Taking part in a lesson will give you the confidence to maximise your experience. You will learn skills including:

- Falling down and getting up - it’s all part of learning
- Stomping/walking, balance and stopping – to get you moving (and stopping)
- Dips, swizzles, gliding and basic backwards skating – you’ll look like a professional in no time

COST: FREE
DURATION: Each lesson is 15 minutes

 

INTERMEDIATE LESSONS - BACKWARDS SKATING

Once you have mastered the basics you're ready to take the next step. Taking part in an intermeditae lesson will provide you with the skills to improve your skating skills.

- Basic backwards skating
- Stopping – snow plough
- Edges and one foot gliding

DURATION: Each lesson is 15 minutes

 

SKATE SCHOOL

Skate School offers range of classes designed to introduce you to skating. After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking you through a series of skill levels preparing you to go into ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating or recreational skating.

When: in line with the Victorian School term on Saturday and Sunday mornings
Class duration: 30 min instruction, 30 minutes practice, FREE public skating the day of your lesson.

HOCKEY SCHOOL

Hockey School is a terrific way to get in the game. Even if you’ve never skated before, our qualified coaches, including AIHL, IHV and Australian team members,  can teach you all the basics required to become a hockey star! 

Hockey School offers a specifically designed program.  After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking you through a series of skill levels, in intro to hockey and intermediate hockey and preparing you to play ice hockey.

When: in line with the Victorian School term on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings
Class duration: 1 hour instruction
