Can the students bring food into the venue?

  • We don’t allow food to be brought into the venue. School meal deals can be pre-ordered when completing the schools booking form or alternatively food can be bought from the cafe on the day. Brought food would have to be consumed outside of the venue – there are bench seats etc for this.

Do the teachers have to be on the ice?

  • We strongly recommend and encourage all teachers to get involved with the on-ice activities. After all, it is free! It is the teachers’ responsibility to watch for and control unruly behaviour while at the venue.

Is it true that teachers can skate free of charge at any public skate session at Medibank Icehouse?

  • Yes, you heard it right! Victorian teachers can skate free of charge at any public skate session throughout the year, nights and weekends included. Just present your VIT card upon entry and fill out the schools survey.

Is there a place for the students to store their bags and belongings while in the venue?

  • Students are able to store their bags in a function/change room while on the ice. It is recommended that any expensive items be given to a teacher/s to mind during this time. Medibank Icehouse does not take responsibility for lost/stolen items.

What will the students need to wear to keep warm?

  • While the air temperature at Medibank Icehouse is a mild 16 degrees, we advise students to wear comfortable, warm clothes, including a good pair of socks. Layering clothes is advised – a few laps around the rink will warm them up pretty quickly.
